A journey through spirituality, tradition, and culture of Holy Week across three nations. The traveling photography exhibition "Per Crucem ad Lucem" tells the story of Easter processions in Portugal, Spain, and Italy through evocative images.
Molfetta, March 30, 2025 – The exhibition will be inaugurated at the Sala dei Templari, in the heart of the Apulian city, offering visitors a visual immersion into the most moving and solemn Holy Week rites of Spain, Portugal, and Molfetta.
This prestigious exhibition involves the Portuguese municipality of Braga and the Spanish municipalities of Bercianos de Aliste, Medina de Rioseco, Peñafiel, as well as the southern Italian town of Molfetta (ba), which in 2023 declared its Holy Week rituals as intangible heritage of the city, incorporating them into the municipal statute.
A European itinerary of faith and art
At the same time, the exhibition will be held in the evocative setting of the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio dei Portoghesi, just a few steps from Piazza Navona in Rome, where it will be open to visitors until April 30, 2025.
Afterward, the journey will continue through Braga and the Spanish municipalities participating in the project, further expanding the narrative of a tradition that transcends national borders.
A must-see event for those who wish to discover, through photography, the expressive power and depth of Easter rituals in the Mediterranean.
The event is sponsored by the University of Bari, the University of Valladolid, the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See, and the Portuguese Embassy to the Holy See.
For the occasion, a high-quality photographic catalog will be published.
